MacOpz Update

For the past 11 years I have paid for this site (about $100 a year) and kept it ad free. I don't really feel like I can afford that anymore, and have decided that Google ads are unobtrusive enough that perhaps they can take over paying the bills for this site. I sort of doubt that the ads will pay the full $100 a year, but perhaps they can offset my costs. I'm sorry to any of you whom this upsets, I hope the ads won't drive you away from the site.
In more exciting news, Zach has written an excellent new article which will go live tomorrow on how he created what he calls a RAID Capsule. I found it to be very interesting reading. This will be our first article since 2003. I've been brain-storming on additional content to liven this old stale site up. We'll see what I come up with. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
I've also been thinking that perhaps it is time to replace the forum software. I love WebBBS because it reminds me of the old BBS style message threads, and it integrates very nicely into the site design. Unfortunately it wasn't originally created with accounts in mind. This was a feature that was shoved into it as an after thought many years after the software was developed. I had to enable the feature to defeat the spammers, and since then we haven't seen many new faces. I don't think that the account system in WebBBS is obvious and simple enough for most people to bother with it. WebBBS also hasn't really been actively worked on over the last few years. I think that perhaps a change might bring in some new blood. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a good replacement...?
