: Thirded. I would note though, that there are really only 20-ish distinct
: possible plot lines to any story. At some point, it must be accepted that
: the unexpected, while entertaining, is not necessary. Honestly, the worst
: i've got to say about the movie is that after a 2nd viewing, I noticed
: that Sam Worthington broke his American (east coast?) accent a few times
: during his more intense speaking parts. Entirely forgivable, but
: definitely noticable if you're not as caught up in the spectacle of how
: amazing the rest of the film is.

Nobody else thought it was weird that Sigourney Weaver's Avatar had a normal nose? What's up with that? And "unobtainium"? Seriously?

I ended up seeing it Christmas day, one day after a tonsillectomy. I totally agree with what everyone has said about the 3D and I also agree that a totally original plot is pretty much impossible anymore. But after 2 hrs I was ready for the movie to be over with. The last 40 minutes dragged for me. Could have been the surgery though. Overall, I thought it was good and a landmark for 3D movies. I don't think I'll watch it again though.

Oh yeah, one last gripe, pretty specific to scientists: Sigourney Weaver's use of the autopipette was literally laughable. I saw the movie with my wife and my friend and all three of us are chemists and we couldn't help but laugh at what she was doing with it. I don't understand why directors/producer/etc. don't spend the extra money to learn these things. Seriously, I would have told them for free.
