Never had .mac myself, but so far, I'm liking MobileMe. I got it mostly for simple webhosting integrated w/ iWeb, which is what I use for keeping a record of my races. I also wanted to sync bookmarks, calendars and address books. That was a little bit of a pain b/c there was so much merged data, I had to do a lot of sorting after the fact, but that's not a MobileMe issue so much as it is just a me issue.
Haven't had any of the problems people are reporting, but then again I don't use the email. The only real complaint I have is also not a MM issue. I use iCal alarms for everything, but I don't want to get the alarms on all my computers. I wish there was a way to only have alarms for checked calendars. (yes I wrote to Apple about it via their feedback submission, which probably goes right into a giant spam mailbox that is deleted every 0.04 microseconds)
