: Holy crap, MacOpz is still around. Was actually doing some research for a
: story on OpenMac and came across the coverage we did on Xtrem Mac.
Awesome... That was a great exclusive for us, even if it turned out to be vaporware... As the OpenMac seems it will likely be.
Anyhow, even as a starving college student, it only costs about $75 a year to keep MacOpz online... So I plan to keep it up indefinitely, if only to stay in contact with those that have been part of the forum and to keep the work we did do out there. I've given serious thought to giving the site some life over the summer break though. The biggest problem is finding something to write about that can't be found everywhere else (which was always sort of the mission statement of MacOpz.) If nothing else perhaps I will talk about some of the iPhone Apps I'm working on. But I'd really like to find a real exclusive. It's been a long time.
: So yeah, I went pro with the whole "tech reporter" thing. Currently
: working out of San Francisco as the US news editor for vnunet.com and
: running their Mac Inspector blog. So it turns out I owe quite a bit to
: MacOpz for giving me a shot as a kid. Thanks, Crosis.
That's awesome! I'm sure you'd have gone the same direction without us, but it's kind of cool to be able to say "That guy got his start with us." :) I was a bit older than you, but I was pretty much a kid as well. It was just a hobby that seemed sort of fun at the time. I obviously lost the drive to keep the site particularly relevant at some point, and I think Trigger lost that drive even earlier. It has long been in the back of my mind to bring MacOpz back to life. Perhaps I'll do that over the summer. Anyone have any ideas of things for me to write about, or things they would be willing to write about that aren't the same as you can find on any other Mac site?
Anyhow, delightful to hear from you, and I'm glad that you went forward in life utilizing your writing talents, which I have always considered to be immense.
