To what end? It doesn't support gigabit ethernet, and a 10/100 or the very fastest wireless connections don't reliably play DVD movies remotely. Apple doesn't want you treating your AppleTV like a Mac (even though it is one), so they aren't going to let you install software on it. I suppose you could play a .mp4 video from a disc, and I suppose an Audio CD would be another possible use, but I just don't think there's a lot of demand for that.
