: There were a few tracks that I thought were mildly interesting, but most of
: them pretty royally sucked.
Ditto, sounded too much like Timbaland WROTE the album, rather than simply producing it. At best, many of the tracks are mundane, a poor clashing of hip-hop and Simon's voice...
: I really like the instrumental track though (Tricked Out, track 8). I think
: Nick Rhodes must have been bored with what the rest of the band was doing
: and so just went off into the corner and came up with some cool synth
: shit.
Tricked Out was alright. Gave me hope that maybe the rest of the album wouldn't suck so much as the first 7 tracks....
: Oh, and It's Le Bon, BTW.
Ya got me there, but who's surprised?
: I said that the last album was a return to the 80's with a 2000's make-over.
: That's good, because Duran Duran was really good in the eighties. I would
: say this represents a return to the 90's with a 2000's make-over. Duran
: Duran sucked in the 90's.
Except that the 2000's makeover on Red Carpet Massacre (which I agree is an AWESOME name) simply felt like it was new hip-hop backbeats that those geezers didn't know WHAT to do with. At least with Astronaut, it just sounded like their gear was newer without giving into the influences of current mainstream pop/hip-hop... Maybe the record label really pressured them into working with that asshat (Or some other excuse that gets the Fab Five off the hook)...
Oh, really liked the cover art too... Can't pinpoint why, but I dig.....
