Oh, I'm sure it offloads all of the work it does onto the graphics card, so I don't think most people need to worry about resources... I just found it to be ugly and unusable. Most icons just don't look right with it, and I found it difficult to quickly identify what applications were open, and the reflection off of it was distracting at best.
