As far as I can tell, the only adjustment you can make is to the "Sensor Bar Sensitivity" (Not that the sensor bar actually senses anything). I know I have to play with that just to get controls to work when I take my Wii to a friends house (he has a much larger living room than I), but I'm not sure that would help your problem any. I can't say that I've encountered that particular problem, and I'm not sure what (if anything) would solve it. Sorry I don't have more useful information for you.
