Sort of, it's actually immediately following the Spanish civil war and the man she marries is a Franco military captain. Otherwise I suppose you have it. I think I just expected the movie to more about the fantasy world and less about the horror. This is what the trailer lead me to believe. Now to be fair, if I had bothered to read the information on their website I might have had a better idea of what to expect.
Anyhow, having slept on it, I think I need to watch it again from a different perspective. As I said in my first post, in terms of the quality of the filmmaking I thought the movie was excellent, I just wasn't prepared for the story. I think I'll give it another shot in the next few days.
