In Response To: Wii ... does anybody know . . . (Intellect Inside)

Not sure if it's a requirement, but the new Zelda has progressive and widescreen available. According to the package anyways. I have the game, but I can't get ahold of a Wii. Nobody has any in stock, nobody knows when they'll have one in stock and nobody will take a reservation (even if I offer to pay in full in advance).

Sounds like it's mandatory according to this site: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/file/wii_hardware.txt

"Video:
Up to 480p (NTSC) or 576p (PAL/SECAM), will work with any TV or
projector
Component (including Progressive scan), S-Video, or composite output.
16:9 anamorphic widescreen support.
Note: Component cables must be purchased seperately. GameCube
component cables are not compatible with the console."

: Did Nintendo take this opportunity to force game developers to support
: progressive scan and/or widescreen modes, or are developers still free to
: fuck us over by continuing to develop in narrow and interlaced modes only?
