Indeed I was. ;)
: Hmm... I didn't think it was as good as the first two, but I had fun watching
: it.
I really didn't overall. There was just something "wrong" with it. It never had the "feel" of the previous films and even the look just made it not feel natural. I dunno, I just really disliked Ratner's bungling of it.
: Hmmm... So far I haven't found a Robert Rodriguez movie that I like, I'm not
: a huge David Fincher fan, and I hate Quentin Tarantino movies. Apart from
: Aronofsky, maybe this new breed just isn't for me...
Huh, I loved Once Upon a Time in Mexico, From Dusk Till Dawn was just plain fun and Sin City was a breath of fresh air IMO. Also his segment with the two little kids in Four Rooms was pretty damned ilarious. ;) I think what I like so much about Rodriguez is his adoption and complete support for the digital formats over film. He's been one of the loudest voices in support of it and he does a really good job at stating his reasons and justifications against it's naysayers. Plus I really enjoy how he spends so much extra time going into how he makes his films via making of documentaries, shorts, etc as I always felt it really shows how much he loves his craft. His book "Rebel without a crew" is a pretty good read as well. ;)
Not much of a Finchner fan? I thought you really dug Seven and while Alien 3 is probably the chapter I liked the least in the series he definitely did a good job of setting the tone and pace of it as more of a thriller than it's two predeccesors. Fight Club is just a classic and the Game was far from the standard crap hollywood is always trying to shill out on us. Tarantino I dig as he's got a unique feel to his films that brings a level of reality to them. They are more snippets of life from a variety of different directions and views all tossed together into one tangled mess which ultimately works out in the end fairly nicely. Jackie Brown is a great example as is Pulp Fiction.
What do you think about M. Night Shyamalan or Steven Soderbergh? ? Also, I forgot to mention another new fave in Christopher Nolan, man, that guy is good! Any other new breed director's you're into?
