My first question would be:

Have you tried using it to burn anything with any Apple software?

Toast includes a shload of drivers for drives that the Apple OS doesn't. Almost any burner will work with Toast, the same is not usually true of Apple software.

That being said if you want fairly inexpensive high quality drives that support Apple's software checkout what LaCie has to offer...
