De-Vangelism 2K
Or "New Millennium, New Layout, Same Old Crap."

Okay, during our little two week break, I decided on a new format, so here's how it's gonna be:

1: Rant. I'm going to start out each column with a little rant about something. Usually something lame. Sometimes, I'll have other stuff like interviews. Maybe. Take, for example, todays rant: ihateapple.com- from bad to worse.

Once upon a time, last summer, I considered ihateapple.com to be a somewhat credible source of news. As a Mac user, most of the sites I visit are one sided praises of Apple. It was nice to see the exact opposite at ihateapple. You could go in the forum and chat with Catfish or Haggis, or enjoy a flamewar with Hillbilly and Evil Lister. Unfortunately, this all changed around December. In a not-so-shocking display of fascism, Todd, the administrator of ihateapple, decided to ban several people whom he had felt were violating the "PG-13" language rule. A surprisingly severe backlash resulted, during which several of the board regulars (including myself) left until looser guidelines were put on the language. Following this fiasco, Todd decided to stop using other services and sites for news gathering. Choosing instead to fill the news section with editorials from him and his closest mac-hating friends. Recently, a copy of David Pogue's "Violent Night" was posted on the site and remained for two weeks without any mention of the writer. When asked about this, Todd claimed that the song was public domain. When proven otherwise, Todd agreed to write a correction giving Pogue credit. Almost a week later, a small correction was made at ihateapple.com giving David Pogue credit. It was removed after one day. in just three months, ihateapple went from the site you love to hate, to the site you hate to read.

2: Spacedog's Sack. Okay,, this is gonna be my letter section. Got something to say? Send it to me. If it's the best one, or if it's just really profane, I'll use it for spacedog's sack. Send all feedback to spacedog_spiff@hotbot.com and make it snappy!

3. The Crimson Shovel. This is an award I will give out to the person most deserving of a beatdown. The award comes from a short movie that you can download here I'm not sure who made the actual movie, and if you know, tell me and I will give them credit. This one was sent to me by Evil Lister, so I thank him. For those of you too lazy to download it, it's basically just a clip of a guy getting smacked in the back of the head with a shovel (pure comedy! )
This week's Crimson Shovel goes to...Id Software. I don't care what the hell John Carmack said at Macworld, if you make a $50 game, it had better damn well work! Congratulations, Id. Clang!

Okay, so, that's the new layout. Hope you enjoy it more than the old one.
